Flemish Primitives are the bomb. Everybody is looking at the renaissance in Italy but we forget that the renaissance took place in our Netherlands to. The Flemish (Belgian) primitives are painted with oil paint to create perfect details. While giotto, michelangelo and all the others of the southern renaissance were using and looking at line-perspective, old statues and anatomy of the classic ages. We were just looking and looking to see the finest details. And just paint every detail. Thats why when you see the paintings of Jan van Eyck (arnolini and his bride & adam and eve) you cant imagen the people walking trough the room because the perspective is not perfect. In the Italian works you can imagen walking trough the rooms. But that doesnt make the Flemish Paintings less beautful Look at some Flamish primitves and some renaissance works.
